Hoppiest Beer
Everyone loved last year’s Malt Liquor category so much we thought we’d do something fun again this year. But, this year we are putting a really different twist on it.
This year’s special style is for the HOPPIEST beer in the competition. But, you can’t simply add hop extract to any beer to try and win this one. To enter, you need to choose a beer that you are entering into one of the regular categories and send a fourth bottle.
Your beer will be judged in the normal judging process, but we will also take a sample from your fourth bottle and determine the IBU level with the help of a spectrophotometer loaned to us by Louis Bonham. The beer with the highest IBU level that also makes it to second round in the regular judging will win the category.
There will be no additional points awarded for this category (i.e., if your regular beer in a regular category wins a ribbon, you and your club will get those points but will not receive additional points for having the hoppiest beer).
