Best-of-Show Beer was awarded to Uke Brew (Andrew Elliott and Jeff Hilland) of the Kuykendahl Gran Brewers for their UB Dunkel Munich Dunkel. The Best-of-Show Mead/Cider was awarded to John Donaldson for his Shiny Thighs Semi-sweet (Traditional) Mead.
Thank you to everyone who entered, supported, and attended this year’s event, especially all the judges and stewards who helped judge, our milli-conference speakers, corporate sponsors, and, of course, Fred.

The Dixie Cup has featured a special beer category for many years. You won’t generally find these categories anywhere in the BJCP guidelines. This year, however, the Dixie Cup is featuring two, count ’em, two special beer categories. The first special category is something we call Gruit Ain’t Moot, while the second special category honors one of Houston’s beer pioneers with It’s Just Beer.
The Dixie Cup is one of the final Qualifying Events for MCAB X and is the final competition in the series that determines the Lone Star Circuit Homebrewer of the Year, the Lone Star Circuit Homebrew Team of the Year, and the Lone Star Circuit Homebrew Club of the Year.
